Question for anybody that has done this, Is the 72 shorter than the 76? I want to put a 72 rear panel on a 76 chasis, but I think the Shock obsorber rear bumper piece makes this impossible.

I want the look of the 72 on the rear of the car, so I want to use the 72 rear light panel as well as the convertible deck. Is this possible without taking out the reinforcement shock obsorbers behind the rear bumper of the 76?

Hope this is clear, if not Ill try to help out.

I have the whole 72 convertible clip, but I am not sure it will fit on the 76 chasis without taking off the rear bumper shock obsorber setup.

Where do you make the cut for installing the rear clip?

Is it better to install the whole rear clip

Can't help much, but I can say that about a year ago, I helped a friend who had a 68 with a badly rusted frame, actually rusted in half under the doors.

He picked up a 74ish rear frame section. Cut the 68 frame, and grafted the 74 frame on.

BUT....he had to cut the rearmost section of the 68 frame off (with the bumper mounts, etc.), cut off the "shock absorber" part of the 74 frame, and weld the rearmost part of the 68 frame to the 74 so he could mount the rear bumpers, etc.

LOT of work...he should have bought a correct frame section, but he got the 74 cheap...about $50.00. Chuck

That sounds like it is what I need to do, cause I dont think I can put the rear of that car on there without getting rid of that 76 shock stuff. Thanks, Remy
