$75,000 Price Tag? What Do You Think?

The dealership takes all of their cars in on credit!
you floor plan them but if you do not sell it the floorplan every month keep cutting into your profit and the floorplan payment every month can be a bear if the cars are not selling. my wife was a office manager at a dealer for 15 years so she knows what goes on. if you can not sell the car GM does not take it back unless you go belly up

I love your reasoning.
In total agreement.

Hercules drove a corvette!

-Bill.;LOL
$75,000 will put the corvette in that special club, where it belongs.

BTW CDN$ 75k = $96,000cdn yikes! +plus taxes ++
C6 /wZ51 is good enough.

No

I bought my ZR1 new it stickered for over $67'000 it is now worth at best about $34'000 in like new cond low miles. So to spend about $70'000 to $75'000. No!! The resale is not there. I will be looking at 911's E.

The grass is not always greener!!!!!!!!!

Hi

Having a vette for 13 years and only losing half is fantastic, most of the time it takes less then 5 years and the performance of your ZR-1 is equal to the C6 (well almost). That to me is a bargin, if you had to buy a Porsche depending on the model the resale would be no better and the service's would blow your mind. Not counting if something went wrong, then it would make your legs all rubbery.

For 13 years you were king of the hill, that's not bad.

And once a Porsche gets to 55,000 miles, nobody wants it because of the expensive upkeep. How many Porsches have you seen with over 100,000 miles in the paper? Or even 75,000 miles? Think about it!

The vette is perfect because it can be repaired anywhere in the US, not like the other exotics.

It can even be repaired and worked on in your own garage/driveway if you want. I don't think I've ever drove past someone with their Porsche on Rhino Ramps! ;LOL

Then again, working on your own car is part of the Corvette thing.

what killed the ZR-1s was the fact the std corvette was not that much slower than the ZR-1 so why pay all that extra bucks.

While the Z06 appears to have all that it needs to compete on the same level of European sports cars at a dollar amount that is in a range equal to the Porsche and much less than some of the very expensive cars, the great majority of Z06's will be sold in the domestic market.

It would be pretty sad to see the number of sold units drop dramatically due to the 20-25% increase in the cost of the car. $75K for a car is a pretty high number in the US market. Granted you get a whole lot for your money, but if the car doesn't sell in the numbers that were close to the 2001-2004 average (about 7100 cars per year), then the GM beancounters may force Chevrolet to drop the car or cut it back to the configuration we have previously seen.

Given what most Chevy dealers do with second-sticker markups on Vettes, you can bet that a new Z06 will retail for around $80-90K. If the production numbers are low, the dealers will most likely not want to drop their inflated sales prices. There will be a few people who will pay that full sticker price, but I think $75K+ will scare a lot of people off.

I would also bet that most dealers will not stock a Z06. Kerbeck, Jacobs and some of the other large Vette dealers may have them, but for the most part, a Z06 will probably be a order-only and then with some sort of clause that either won't let a buyer back out or some sort of penalty if they do.

the big problem for GM will be what the ZO-6 does to the CAFE because even the 3.15 rear gear is put on constrain when they calculate the CAFE and it will lower it,so that will limit the number of ZO-6s sold. a C-6 that was ordered 2 weeks after mine could not order the 3.15 gear. the car will have to have a gas guzzler tax and that will add several thousands of $$$ to the price.

Evryone's anxiously awaiting the new C6 Zee...well the public unveiling is Jan 15th at the Detroit Auto Show. For more info go to www.NAIAS.com

I have an invite for the Industry Preview day on Jan 12th, and will hopefully get the real pricing then.

I'm hearing prices upwards of $70,000, but we'll see.

Btw, I'm still planning on selling my '05 Silver Z51 Coupe and get the new Z06! :)

zippy just lift up the mattress and take out some of those greebacks. :D

Naw...I just cash a bunch of pop cans laying around the house.

Zip :) :)

Maybe you could say the new Z06 will be the new L-88. The L-88 vettes were significantly more than the base models but they were that way on purpose to discourage people from buying them who couldn't handle the power. Well, that and the fact you couldn't get AC or a radio certainly helped too. Just my opinion.

No question its worth it - theres a lot of supercar engineering, technology and performance in the Z06 - a lot of car for the $ and a value. This car will have to make no apologies to anything else on the road and is a great additional. Hopefully, some of the good stuff will filter into the C6 or C7 so us mortals can enjoy. :beer Unfortunately, its more than I can afford!:(

It looks like they dumped that silly hardtop coupe that was originally suppost to be an entry level no frills Corvette. Now if they will finally include a ZO6 roadster too, I`ll be back in a new Vette. :D
