So my daughter wonts to be like dad and get a corvette. She is a med student with double major and insists on paying her tuition from her job in Olive Garden, you guessed it she is broke. She found a 76 for 5K that needs some cosmetic help along with cluster not working. I'll be taking a look at it later on today and was hoping I could get some feed back as to what to look for in a C3. I'm good with a wrench and the idea is to restore the car over time but my knowledge of C3 line is very limited. I know every model year had it's good and bad, what should I look for? Thanks for any advice, Zig.

Check brake calipers for leaks. Check frame w/ a hammer for serious rust damage especially at the kickup in front of the rear wheels. Probably not a problem if it's always been a SoCal car tho.

Get a Corvette Shop Manual (GM version) and an Assembly Information Manual (AIM). Both are invaluable for fixing/restoring a Corvette.

Of course there's always the CAC. Lots of experienced folks here. Good luck. :beer

I'm not sure how much help this would be, but it couldn't hurt. ;)

The CAC "Buying a Corvette Checklist" from the Tech Center:
Checklist here

Good luck!
