Have you seen the vendors mags recently.
Most are now selling these 78/82 OEM Restro Chrome Wheels.

They look real good, but.......

$1350.00 a SET!!!!!!

What are they thinking?
Don't they realize that price is way to high.
They don't even offer a exchange?

Here's the one they really missed,
The ONLY reason I would buy these is for quicker and eaiser cleaning, my rims now are highly polished, but somewhat a hassel to maintain, you know the drill.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like a set, but for that kind of money, I'll just keep polishing mine.

Note to Vendors:
"I as a Corvette owner, I find it offensive and degrading that you would think I could be this stupid, please leave the rims on a shelf for now".
;LOL :pat ;LOL

You think those are expensive? Grab a copy of a car magazine and check out the wheel prices in the ads in the back!

BTW: Why don't you have your nicely-polished wheels clearcoated?

Page62

My rims are clear-coated (or at least they were) and will get done again this spring.

I have the factory polished wheels on my '81 - how can I tell if they are "clearcoated" or not??

They are very hard to keep shinny ...

I don't think mine are...and they never were. They're just bare aluminum. One of these days I'll polish 'em up.

Clearcoated wheels (like the ones on my 2000 F150) have a thin coat of what is essentially clear paint on them. You have to be careful not to try and power buff these with Simichrome or whatever because you'll buff away the clearcoat!

Altho my N90 wheels had just 15,000 miles on them, the OEM clear-coat was shrinking, cracking, turning yellow-grey, etc. I had mine chromed last year (why GM didn't do this themselves,...), and they're GREAT! It cost LESS THAN HALF the above price, INCLUDING shipping & insurance via UPS! If anybody's interested, I'll give them the name & phone number. You won't regret this investment!!!!!:D
