78 L48. Won't shut off

Car has been parked for 10 years. Running when parked. Upon hooking up battery the generator and brake lights on dashboard lit up without key on. Engine started but would not shut off when key was turned to off. Ideas? Thank you for your thoughts. Becky

We are currently changing the ignition switch. Hopefully barking up the right tree.

It sounds like two or more wires are shorted together. Possible mice damage during storage. Be aware that harness fires can start in an instant and are very difficult to put out.
