79 speaker harness

Bought new speakers from Eckler's came with a red and black wire harnes does not match up with my factory harness of grey and tan wire on one side and light blue and dark blue on other side . Does any one know which is neg. and pos. and does it matter thanks

From the wiring diagram for my 78:

Lt Green - Right Front - Feed from Radio
Dk Green - Right Front - Speaker Return

Tan - Left Front - Feed from Radio
Gray - Left Front - Speaker Return

Lt Blue - Right Rear - Speaker Return
Dk Blue - Right Rear - Feed from Radio

Yellow - Left Rear - Speaker Return
Brown - Left Rear - Feed from Radio

What matters is that your new speakers need to be phase matched by connecting them all the same way. Suggest that each speaker's positive be connected to your Vette's "Feed from Radio" wires, and the negative leads connected to the "Speaker Return" wires.
