81 alarm system question...

is there a fuse or something of the nature that will disable the factory alarm? when I was reassembling the car last week I was under the impression that the alarm system did not work so I took the wires out out of the door for the security system and yesterday it decided to work at a very bad time...so I respliced the wires together so the car will start and all but I would just like to fully disable the system.

There is a way to disarm the system. On the drivers side, remove the carpet panel from the console. The alarm relay can be disconnected by unplugging the relay from the connector. The relay should have four wires,light blue,dark blue,yellow and black. Relay located just in front of the shifter. Hope this helps.
