Hey there Rick, mine wouldn't even idle at all with the bad ecm.If I disconnected the harness(eletronic advance) from the dist. I could get it to run decent, but not great. The 81 dosen't have points. To me it dosen't sound like an ecm, sounds like possibly spark, fuel or timing. Sorry i'm not much help with engine diag. but there are alot of smart engine guys here that might be more help.

Hey thanks for the info about the "no point's" , i know it has a cap , does it have a rotor and condensor?

I'm not too good with motor stuff, but there is a rotor, ignition module, and some other cylinder looking electric thing in there.

Hey thanks, that cylinder looking thing is the condensor , next week i'm going to buy the tune up parts and see what happens.
