Hello Folks;
does anyone have a picture of the stock radio for an 81 vette?. Mine has a el cheapoo sony...and I figure it's time to start checking the junkyards for the right one. Also...for anyone who had been following my past thread for "rearend noise"...I replaced all my "short shaft" and "drive line" "u-joints"...had my rear wheel bearings replaced...and the noise is still there. When you let off the gas and hit that "null area" between accelerate and decelerate...it will go "Scrscrscrscrscr.... needless to say, I'm miffed.:mad I guess when taxws come back next year...I rebuild the rearend.:cry

Hmmm...where did my corvette picture go??...:confused

81 Radio Help !!

Hi Fred,

My son is coming over to help me put in a JVC radio this afternoon. It is not stock, but it is digital, will drive a CD player and power antenna. It is designed to fit the Vette Bezel with no modifications. I believe there are 3 or 4 types of radio combinations for this year Vette. The old pushbutton AM/FM radio, there was a digital ETR version, and radio /8-track option, and a AM/FM radio - CB combination. I have a link of a guy who sells Vette radios out on ebay all of the time. There is one out there right now for bidding.

If that does not work, his ebay name is mowhitetailhunter.

Hope this helps !!

John

Thanks Fellas!! :w
Now I know what to look for. To bad I couldn't have had better luck with my Vette's rear-end:L

Scratch,

I have an AM/FM radio that I purchased in ebay for parts to repair mine. Perhaps you can check there for yours. The only thing missing in this parts-source radio is the display module (i had that swapped into my CB radio). So if you find one and need parts, It's at your disposal.

Thank you GaryLP...:beer ...I still have a couple'a other fishes to fry first. Like the &*^%^$$ rear-end. Sounds as if you've had some experience with "rear-ends" there 81 Corvette...;) But I'm used to having problems with automobiles..look at my last project...

I Have The Delco Radio/cassette Out Of My 81 If Your Interested, took It Out And Put A Cd In.it Wasnt Going When I Got The Car.the Car Had Been Unused From 1988 To2002,and Has Only Done 33,000 Miles,so There Shouldnt Be To Much Wrong With It.cheers Art

Thank you "Art81" for the offer to sell me your radio. I'm not ready to buy one yet...I have a "rear-end" problem to iron out first. But I wanted to get an idea of what one looked like so I could go "sleuthing" the junk yards to find one. New Zealand is a place I would like to visit someday. I'm supposed to have a "half" sister there...(me father was a sailin' man) :D I'm told it is a beautiful place.
Take care Art

look at the Corvettes for sale on ebay, just about all of them have at least one pic of the interior, many of them have close-ups of the radio too.
;)

Thank you Mikejps :)
I'll whip over there and give e-bay a quick squint ;)
