Is this car worth this much or no????

The best way to get a fair value on an older vette is to spend $25-$50 and have it appraised by a competent appraiser. If you do buy it you will need to have it done for insurance purposes anyway. Just an example, my 81 is repainted, that makes it a #2 car from the get go, had 45k miles when I had it appraised. Appraised value $12,600 w/matching numbers. If your paint is really puff and original as you say, it might appraise for $16-$18k. At any rate $14k may be a little high depending on what the real condition is.

that sounds *extremely* high to me, but if it is worth that, it sure makes me feel good about what mine must be worth!
good luck, I think you can find a better deal...

My brother recently sold his '82 all original for $14K. I admit he could have gotten more selling on his own but he just had to have a 99 roadster. His car was totally original with 30K miles. Never been in the rain and I would have eaten off of the frame. He had every scrap of paperwork on the car and even the original air filter, tires and spark plugs (although not on the car). I kept trying him to enter it in shows but he wouldn't. So I think $14K is way overpriced for what you describe.

elky- I agree with the others.I paid $9000 for mine 2 years ago.It was a garaged kept, 4 speed car with very good interior, excellent paint and 101000 miles. From what I have seen in my area that car would probably sell for $7500-$9000. For $14000,that car would have to have gone through some intense restoration efforts in my opinion.I hope this helps you out, elky.Keep us updated on your car search efforts.Welcome to CAC!!!!!!!!!!!!

well everyone if it helps you can look at the car online.
Its at prideautoplaza.com, they have a white and black one.but the white one is just like you described you could literally eat off the frame.tell me what you think after you see the car,now..since before it was only words.

motor is original and been totally rebuilt fresh, with 100miles on it.

Over the top

10K MAX.....

Espically in the current economy.

Everyone is correct about the economy. I bought my 82 Collectors Edition (with the org tires), 3 months ago for 10K. It has org paint and it is clean enough to spent the winter at Harrahs in Reno on display. Do your shopping and buy what you want. Good luck

elky,

$14K is too much even with a pristine paint job. There are better deals. Be patient and keep looking. However, it never hurts to offer $9-10K in cash (cash is king when buying cars) and see if the owner jumps. Ya never know.

Good luck............. Nut
