Bought the car last fall, wipers "worked" briefly
then quit altogether.

Since then, cleaned all connections, plugs, grounds,
and verified good grounds.

Replaced switch (corroded), took out pulse
controller and closely checked solder connections
(some had been resoldered).

Then I finally found how to test the motor -
found the motor was bad.

I've got the large silver colored motor with
no external wires, but all the catalogues
show as assy with a smaller, black motor
that has the wires coming out of it, although
some of them show the cover side and it
looks like it has the same configuration as
well as the 3-lug spade connector.

As that's the only type of replacement motor
I can find, I assume it must work? But how
do the external wires hook up? The wires
in my motor stay inside the housing and seem
to go to the back of that 3-spade hookup.

Thanks!

Wish I could help but I've never had to work on the wipers yet. I copied your question to the L81 Registry Forum. Maybe someone that hangs out there will have an answer.

Eckler's was kind enuf to respond right
away with the answer - they showed me
a picture of the right one to exactly replace
mine - they said there are somewhat different
models to fit specific years within that mid-70's
to 82 range and they apparently stock them.

Glad you got an answer.
