There is an article in the July 2003 issue of Corvette Fever entitled "10 Tips To Better Handling". Tip #3 states that the 1988 dual piston calipers can be easily substituted for the the '84-'87 single piston calipers. They give no details, but I'm wondering if this requires a larger disc and therefore 17" wheels, or if the upgraded caliper can run on the smaller '84-'87disc and stay inside the 16" wheel. I know the setup would work better with the larger disc, but I want to stay with my stock wheels. I have the Enkei made wheels which are supposed to offer more clearance than those supplied by Modern Wheel. Has anyone here tried this switch? Thanks.

I'm headed that way.
I have not seen it with my own eyes but here goes on what I have read:
The J55 13"brakes will fit only in the 9.5 inch enkei wheels.
This is supposed to be the setup used on the 80's showroom stock cars.
Pictures show the calipers BARELY clear the wheels to the point where small gravel scratches the wheel when its kicked up from the road.
Others have said the adapters set the calipers out far enough they had to clearance the fins on the top to get them to clear the wheels.
84 cars have a different size caliper bracket bolt and the spindle has to be drilled out.
85-87 need an adapter (Doug Rippie) or a custom bracket (Baer)
I havent called them yet but I am looking at the Baer bracket, they are supposed to be @$85 each.
The parts can be had used easy, all 94 up cars have the 13" brakes they seem to be going for @$250 for the front set up.
The complete Baer Track kit is @$700 depending on what rotors you get.
