84 auto tranny question

This morning, the rascal didn't want to shift out of first gear! Back to the house, and sure enough, a little over a quart low on fluid! Topped her off, and presto! Works like a champ. Transmission was rebuilt last year, and I'm a recent owner, so God knows how long it's been low! No visable leaks, but could a single quart make that much of a difference?

My thoughts are that maybe you should drain the auto. and change the filter. Put new trans. fluid in.
That way you will be safe.
Costly, if you need to rebuild it.
Just my humble thoughts.
