84 coupe back window problem

Hi all! I have a 1984 corvette. I release the back hatch window, and then i lift it up, problem is, is that the bar thingy on each side to hold the window up, doesnt work, so i have to hold the window up myself. Is there springs in there, or air or something?? How do i fix the problem? Thanks Blueslady

Hello Arleen...BTW...you have mail...the "thingies" you speak of are a shock absorber type lift assist. You can buy a couple new ones at Pep Boys for around 20 dollars.

Time to replace. Rear struts.
I got mine from Corvette Central. But everyone has them.
Easy fix. Not that expensive either.
