I have made post before with questions about my mods, now I asked these questions before I got the stuff to put on the engine but now everything is paid for and about to be put on tell me what everyone thinks.
I got an 84 with a rebuilt bored balanced dipped 86 suburban engine, it has stock size truck cam with cast pistons. I am putting a eld cam that powers up to 5500, the numbers on it are 420-442 lift 204-214. They said the cam is made for my intake and carb i have. The carb is a eld 600 cfm elc choke, and alum eld performer intake. I MAY put some L98 1992 camaro PORTED polished heads not sure yet. I have K&N air cleaner on it, and 100 shot NOS. I have AC DELCO plugs, with ACCELL wires. Does this sound like a good imporvement from crossfire, and does this sound like a good setup with a lot of power? Also what do u guys think I will have HP and tor, and what is a est on 1/4 times? thanks a lot

Sounds good. But I just don't like the carb idea. But again to each his own.

i think u lost the car when u went with carburation, i think if u were gonna replacethe engine that your best bet would havebeen to go with an 86-89 Corvette alluminum head L-98( 5.7 tuned port engine ) remove the heads and have them milled .030 bringing the compression up to about 10:1 replace the intake with your cross-fire system, go with 160 stat, stage 2 chip , cat back exhaust, k& N filter, Accell Super Coil, autolite double platnum plugs advance the ignition timing +2 Degrees
and a set or 1.6 roller rockers, ud be in theball park but thats simply my opinion.

With the 100HP shot Nitrous I would have used forged pistons and replaced the rod bolts with ARP bolts. If you are going to use the cast pistons make sure you have the nitrous set up to come on in 2 or even 3 stages by RPM not all at once.

Well i am hearing some people say maybe it wasnt the best idea going to carb, but I was told this would be a good chance to get some power and I wont have to worry about the MANY problems that the crossfire has. I didnt get the cam, I am going to use the same cam that is in it, I know it will cost me hp but I can add it later. I was also told with going to carb I should pass everyone on the road besides the gas station (i know thats not true but the guy was meaning it will be A LOT faster). I was hopeing to get a lot more TOR and more HP. I was hoping to get 300 HP and atleast 350 lbs of TOR. I am not sure what I will have (not on nitrous) but I know its going to be a lot more than 205 and 290 LBS of TOR. Thats why I think its a good decision, lets see a lot more power, and a lot less chance of small sensors and things going wrong with the car. Well any one else got my back on this decision or think its a dumb thing to do? The car should be done this weekend (feb 20-23) and I am going to take it easy on the car for a bit before getting on it. Oh ya one more thing with the NOS i was told by MANY MANY corvette forums and TECHS that 100 shot of wet will be ok for the cast pisons so I dunno.

thanks

Not really sure if you can SAFELY do the 100shot. Try starting with 75. its always easier to add a little at a time, than put it all over the ground the first time!!! ALSO if the nitros is a plate style system, Idont think you will be able to get an airfilter on it and still be able to close the HOOD!!! The combo sounds quite solid ,Good Luck Paul:D
