I think I have a relay problem, or a ECC problem. Occasionally the blower fan(interior) does not work in any setting at any temperature at any blower speed. I checked voltage to the blower fan at the fan and have 0 VDC. I do not have a schematic of the system so I am not sure if there are relays involved. I have read about checking codes but believe that to be associated with the later version of the climate control system. I am thinking if no relay is involved then the most likely problem is the control itself.

Suggestions, input?

I have the REAL shop manual. Im looking for you, but right now all i have found is.....

On the back of the Climate Control head unit, there is a purple wire that turns into a red wire at some point. The red wire goes into a "A/C underhood fuse 5 amp" That red wire runs into a junction with a black/red wire. The black /red wire hooks up to the blower motor. So maybe that 5 amp fuse is blown

Other than that the only relay i see is.... A black wire out of the head unit runs into a defogger relay. An orange wire comes out of the relay and into a circut breaker 30 amp.

I have other schematics, so i'll look see if i can find anything else

best of luck

Well the blower works, so it is not a fuse...I dont think it is the defogger relay....The relay for the circuit breaker 30 amp most likely is not related to the blower intermittantly working, I think that would cause the ECC to be completely broken intermittantly. Looks like the ECC is the most likely part to be the problem.

Where did you get the shop manual if I may ask...All I have is a haynes piece of SH*&. I really need to get my hands on one before they become REALLY hard to find.

yeah

Hahaha i know what you mean about those haynes mauals, they are terrible, same with the chilltons.

I got the shop manual when i bought the car. But i have seen a bunch of them on ebay. They are really nice. They are probably 3 times the size of the haynes.

good luck with that 86. mines an 86, and the Overdrive is kill'n me. darn 4+3's

Ah, I have the auto...less problems.

I signed up for www.ALLDATADIY.com. Good enough for the local GM deal so good enough for me and only $25 for a years subscription. You can add another car for $14. If you have a modern car, the document is updated at some period.
