Just a note in passing: I had a rig that ran hot.
I removed the thermostat and it ran hotter. A
circle track guy explained to me that when you
remove the thermostat, the fluid cannot stay in
the radiator long enough to get cooled. The
thermostat impedes the fluid flow enough to allow
the radiator to cool it. "Weird Science" for
sure, but in that case, it was true.
Yelp that is true.
A L98 with a 160 T-stat and a clean stock cooling system should never see 200º. I use Waterless Coolant in Thunder and have driven at speeds of 120 MPH in 115º temps as well as setting in traffic with zero air and have never been over 190º.
