Many of the owners running a stock Callaway fiberglass airbox in their 88-90 model cars have asked about the availablility of a reusable replacement element to take the place of the paper filter.

As some of you know, Green Filter has been suppying us with a custom filter element for the C5 and C6 Honkers. The filter has proven to be a superb product.

We are considering a tool up which will make the Green Filter a direct replacement for the 88-90 element.

I know that many cars have been modified with aftermarket air cleaner assemblies, so I am trying to gauge the extent of owner interest in this proposed Green Filter upgrade. Ultimately, this information will affect the method of manufacture.

Please let me know if you are interested in this upgrade via email response to srawling@callawaycars.com.

I run the stock fiberglass airbox and it has always had a K&N flat filter in it. I always assumed the box was designed around a standard size filter. I want to say that at some point I heard the K&N filter element was for a... mustang...

If the Green Filter is a better filter in general as far as flow and filtering capabilities I'd be interested. I'm not too thrilled with K&N filters lately after reading a number of write ups on their overall lack of filtering ability.

Yeah, I know you said reply in email but I thought it was worth a discussion here.

Scott, both my B2K cars are running cone type filters - which I am not convinced is the right option :confused especially after opening the hood @ Carlisle and watching the cone get dampened from the (rain) water...

I might be inclined to go back to the stock Callaway Airbox - esp. on the red car - I do believe though the airbox on the black car has been opened up significantly (by Callaway) when the Big Wonderbar was installed.

After following the Honker development so closely and seeing how tried & true the green filters are compared to others, this is a no-brainer for guys w/ stock boxes - Give Scott an e-mail :cool

BTW - if you are not convinced, here is an article by respected author, Hib Halverson on the Green filters: Green Filter Article

Scott - I also want to say, WELCOME!!!!! :m :w

Maybe I should mention that I am also running the large wonderbar. Is that airbox different from stock?

Kevin, in the other thread w/ the airbox pic, there does seem to be a slight difference in the lid designs...

I'll have to locate my stock (red B2k) box and get a pic, unless someone has theirs handy :m

Chris,

thats just a free make shift water injection kit :D

Ive actually thought my car felt stronger when I ran it after washing and the filter had some water on it. Who knows. (clearly we aren't talking about a soaking wet filter here)

...actually Surf, it was quite interesting to see all the Callaways last weekend in the rain @ Carlisle :eek YIKES :eek

I know what you are saying about the water "injection" - good stuff, as long as it does not become water ingestion :eek

Scott @ Callaway is going to measure the different filter boxes for a broader sample for this - stay tuned...

Surf, BTW How is your car running??

Thanks to all,

I am having the tooling made for the CTTC airbox elements and will also swing the 87 CTTC and 90-96 SNAT filter stock to Green.
