My 88 tends to pulse the dash lights (slightly brighter/dimmer) when running, especially at idle. Didn't really notice it until I was driving it on an overcast day ( headlights not on...)
Is this a sign of impending probs? I know these dash systems have a history..;help

All of the lights on my '85 used to pulse slightly when the headlights were on. Then they stopped. I have no idea why. Check your charging voltage while this is happening. My understanding is that "normal" is around 14.0 or so. If yours is lower it could mean your alternator is on its way south. Good luck!

The voltage regulator in the alt is probably dying, or the alt itself.

You might as well just replace the Alternator.

Thanks all. My voltage output reads 14.1 to 14.3 so I think that is OK. My serpentine belt has marginal side wear. Guess I will see how it works out for now...
