Hello all! I recently purchased a low mileage red (exterior) '88 coupe. I really like my car but was just curious if anyone had any insight as to production figures for the factory black cloth seats for this year. I know I've seen other 'vettes with cloth seats, but they do not seem to be as popular as the leather. Since mine does not have leather, does it make it less desireable to the Corvette faithful? It really isn't a big deal to me, just curious.

Hi Chuck... and again - welcome to the Corvette Action Center!

Here's a link you may find interesting... Click me
The link will take you to the 1988 Model index page in the CAC Tech Center. On that page you'll find additional links to the '88 model Gallery, the C4 Knowledgebase, Production and Performance specs, etc.

The Tech Center is an excellent resource for researching all things Corvette.

As for info about the cloth seats, I also checked my copy of Mike Antonick's The Corvette Black Book.

It lists cloth seats available in 2 colors for the '88 model and states that the production of those 2 colors was 736 black cloth and 286 saddle cloth.

As for whether or not it would make your Corvette more or less desirable to others, I can't say. But I would think that since most C4 and newer Corvettes have leather seats, it would at least make it unusual and interesting.
