Do you know what he is asking for #10?

:cool

no unfortunately not, he just wrote that he has to sell some cars of his collection due to circumstances.

ofcourse when new info comes I will post here

It's a total mystery to me!

Well his mail is on the internet, so contacting him wouldn't be such a problem..

And for all I care and everybody here I thing, Callaways are great cars but still they are just cars. Your personal life and health are always a number one proirity!

I hope there are still a few true Callaway lovers who have some money to spend. As a student i can barely finance my body off resto so this Callaway is just not and maybe never be a real option for me. But i had the privilege to ride in this Callaway (passengers seat ;)) and it was great!

Damn.............when I first saw the title to this thread, I was thinking............... cool.................#10 is coming up for sale.

Then I see health listed as a reason for the sale.............never a good thing when a man's health comes between him and the ability to enjoy his toys.:cry

All the more reason to enjoy life while we can...........time to step up the search for the "right" callaway.

It seems as if he is wanting to profit on the sale of #10. The problem is he drilled holes in $4k worth of carbon fiber work and drilled a bunch of holes in the interior as well. These "enhancements" will no doubt deduct from the price of the car IMHO. Anyone know how its running these days?

Jer, see if you can get him to commit to a number.

Well #10 is for sale and we do not know of a price yet but as a reference the car was for sale for about 60k and then there was some custom work done to the car which some may not like . Shipping to the Us about 5k DOT compliance ?And then the car should be sent to Callaway to get checked out and every thing Blessed by Wayne ?k So I feel that car will run you over 70k and that is on the low side in my opinion. The car is not worth it to me right now. I would make Chris an offer on his 89 and put an Aerobody on it and do the front mount intercoolers for less that 89 #10and have money left over. Chris's car has almost the same power as #10 and it is state side . It has a ton of parts that come with the car that are worth thousands by themselves. Motor Rear Tranny ect. Best Buy IMO

Pete,

Is Callaway still willing to do the front mount intercooler install? That and the aerobody mods are really what set #10 apart. I would go with Chris' car in a heartbeat if that was the case. The miniram would be nice but the lesser part of the package IMHO. Especially considering 632C2 made 650rwhp on a stock tpi. Its all about the right compressor housings attached to the rotomaster turbines.

632's Callaway does make some amazing numbers and part of the deal is the way it gets the fuel :cool - I have no doubt the TPI set-up can handle the power :cool it is not a bad design at all (although technology has certainly marched on, showing improved designs as well... )

My paperwork shows the housings to have been re-worked (ported) for the turbos - Heck, everything on that car had apparently been ported at one point, or another - Turbos, Intercoolers, ramshorn, heads, etc, etc, etc. :cool

I am not sure how 89-010 drives - I am sure the front intercoolers make a huge difference though - especially for sustained high-boost runs :lou
I suppose the easiest way to look at it is, comparing my car to #010, you could add the AeroBody to mine and still come out somewhere between $25,000 - $35,000 ahead (at least) compared to what it would take to get 89-010 back to the states, through customs, etc. :eek

A fun car, it is interesting to look inside and see the automatic w/ the FX3 and sport seats - two options not avail. w/ an automatic in 1989 (due to EPA CAFE standards / restrictions) - Stock black label ZF6 is included in the sale if one is interested.

Let me know if you - or anyone else for that matter, is interested in my car - addl. details upon request. :cool

Thanks :m :v

Nice to see you guys talking about the "customs" problem for a change. ;)Every vette that is driving outside the states has gone through that problem. I also remember #010 being for sale for a long time before Arie bought it or am I wrong?
I also agree with Josh that drilling the carbon didn't do the value any good. The centerconsole isn't that big a problem, just buy a original of the shelf 89 console and your set. The carbon is the only thing you can not fix without seeing it.

The price you pay for #010 is in some way the same as it has been paid for the Slegdehammer. It's not only a Callaway with some brutal Callaway power but it also has a story compleetly, writting down in paperwork that supports the car. Chris's car is half way being a #010 but for example; number ten has a Callaway document that states that Callaway gives no garantee with the following engine upgrade etc etc.. THAT is what makes that car! Of course the special hood and the front intercoolers are a result of that ducument but i doubt Callaway will do it again, and when they will you'll have to bring alot more money then #010 will cost you now. IMO.

Groeten Peter.

The car was for sale more than a year before he bought it.

Agree the car has a story, but IMHO its far from the Sledgehammer which sold for ~$240k after auction fees. I think realistically Arie might get low 50s for his car. Thats assuming I hit the value on the intercooler tanks correctly. Knowing the cost of Callaway custom work, I probably have undervalued those IC tanks at $2k/each.

Pete had looked into have the hood/intercooler set up done. If Arie wanted $60k for his car, it would be cheaper to buy Chris' black car and have the intercooler/hood work done. The price quote a while back for that work was less than $30k US. That hurts the price as well b/c of the customs process.

...just TRY to find a console for an 89 6-spd -

Peter, very good points! :cool

One thing though, console plates for 1989 six-speed cars are next to impossible to find, as they were a one-year only part with VERY few made to begin with :eek

I happen to have one - included with the sale of my car, along with the pedal cage for the six-spd., as LPE really did this conversion RIGHT - and it cost BIG $$$$ to boot :W

What it boils down to in the end, is what are the front mount intercoolers worth? Obviously, the trimming back of the AeroBody and unique hood exit ports are part of the equation however, it all should be considered.

A prospective buyer shared with me once, the magnatude of the "file" on that car - it was fairly thick :eek

...then again, my "file" is about a 1/2" thick too ;) :v

Enjoy - I am officially on vacation :w

...we could have each had the car for a season -

Surf, if THAT wasn't the deal of the decade!

Yourelf, Pete, Luigi, and myself should have all partnered on that car - knowing what we do now... :ugh

I hadn't met you guys then but I would have taken part of that deal! Ike
