'89 rare gm paint code 90 1 of 162

I'm new to this forum. Wanted to share my '89 smoke gray metallic coupe. 1 of 225 in that color that year paint code 90 162 coups and 63 verts. Have you seen another one like it? Anyone have any history on the color and why it was canceled in nov of 88?

I have only seen one other - and now that I think about it, it was probbaly an 88

This color looks like a color used on 2000 Chevy trucks (and maybe cars too?) which is also called Gray Smoke Metallic.
The paint code for that is 391E and it is a very close match to the painted center and spoke areas on the '87 Corvette factory wheels.

That's the color I wanted when I bought my first Vette - only by 91/92, GM had dropped it (and silver) from the colors available.

kinda looks the same

this is my 86 vette . its a 2 tone teh top is gray and teh bottom is black. the gray i have looks similar to urs. i liek urs alot i am a suker for vettes. I have never seen another vette with my color combination.

couldnt figure out how to get teh in the post so this will have to do let me knwo wat u think

Yeah..., there are 4 in my area. One is being driven daily and has seen better days. Yours looks well loved. Slay Corvettes here has one on the lot and there's also a 2-tone one there. Not sure of the year, but definitely early C-4s like yours.

vee93 can you post information on slay corvettes if they have a '89 with paint code 90u and or check it out for me.. I could have 2 out of 162 not looking for 2 tone

Above is the Horace Slay Auto Sales website. I just took a look and don't see the Vettes like yours listed. Doesn't mean anything. The Slays have more Vettes at their home than they do on their sales lot at any given time and they switch them out all the time. One of the Vettes like yours had a Greenwood kit on it. I see by their website, they have a goldish orange one out on the lot with a Greenwood kit. One of the Vettes I've referred to is like that one.
