Fairly safe....however I'd look for other supporting evidence. There was FE1 (8.5" all 4)which was the original base model OR the Z51 (9.5 rears) that was the sport/performance package that rode like a buckboard but yeilded such great handling reviews.
9.5" on all corners did not appear until the next yr then it was an option.
Other Z51 pieces included:
Yellow Bilsteins shocks (likely been replaced yrs ago, so not a sure thing) if they are still there, its time !
VERY hard/firm rear mono-spring.
approx min 1.5 to 1.75 turns of the steering wheel lock to lock...just under 1 turn each way.
Steering very sensitive like a teenage girl...
There was a so called "fast-rack" (rare) thats 1.5 turns with a 1/4 turn at high pressure in the PS that is in the Z51 family. Most were just under or right around 1 turn left or right. The base racks were as much as 2.5 to 2.75..almost 3 turns lock to lock. (slow & mushy by comparison)
A little thicker than normal sway bars... 24mm f ...... 23mm R.
The base size was only 1mm less F and 3mm less rear. All sway bars in 84 were solid.
BTW..
Congrats on getting paid back !
thats a good kid!
