I am unable to engage my reverse on the 6-speed. Is there a common problem or have you guys herd of this happening before?
I drove my car, parked it and now I am unable to reverse. All gears work fine. I recently had a stereo installed could a link of the button you need to hold while shifting have come off? Any help would be appreciated.

I think the shifter lift ring was not re-installed properly, so it won't allow you go go in reverse.

I imagine they pulled the center console for the stereo install, and that forced them to pull the shifter knob off.

No worries.

Pop the plastic 1-6 cover off the top of the knob. Pull the metal looking pin out (use a screwdriver and plyers). Unscrew the knob. Below is the reverse lock out ring.

It takes a micro alan head wrench to get into it from the rear facing foward. That set screw must be run in to the notch in the inner lift rod. Yours is out of place, so it won't grab the reverse lever.

Pull the set screw, examine it, then reinstall.

Thanks 69MyWay, I will try what you suggested as soon as I get home. I sure hope this is the problem. I cannot explain why reverse would go out just like that after no signs of it going bad. I only have 80k miles on her. Thanks for your help.
