I sound like a broken record, but I am still undecided about the 90 Vette.

Although I have not made an aggressive attempt to sell it, the attempts I have made went nowhere.

So...now I am thinking about.

trading my 3.75 complete rear diff for a stock 3.33 out of another six speed Vette.

Putting the stock L98 and stock clutch back in the car.

Leaving the headers and flowmasters.

Sell the car.

69MyWay -- Sell the car

So if you sell your car... are you going to buy a new one?

I am more than willing to discuss different selling techniques with you.
Just send me a PM.

What are your reasons for selling the car?
Are you looking at adding space to your home or plan on getting another car?

This was my wife's car for many years. I bought her a 2000 Vette a couple of years ago. The car had a little over 145K a the time, looked like a champ, and was paid for. I hated to just sell it. I drove it for a week or two and found myself disgusted with the lack of power and higher RPM excitement eventhough it is a six speed.

So, I sold a little commuter car I had, used the cash to buy a TPIS miniram, 52 tb, headers, and RAM series clutch with single mass flywheel conversion. I then yanked the stock motor complete and dropped in a spare hot V8 I had built for another project car (it only had about 3,000 miles on it).

The replacement motor is:

350 .030 over--fully balanced and degreed
Edlebrock Aluminum RPM heads
Crane Hydraulic Roller cam
full roller rockers
9.6:1 compression
etc. etc. etc.

It ran like the wind, but ate up a clutch right away, so I installed a new one, and dropped the rear gear to the 3.75 to take advantage of the upper breathing capacities of the www.tpis.com miniram. I then spent nearly $3K on all new suspension (doing the work myself-includes cost of clutch--etc). So, it handles like a brand new car, accelerates like a demon, and looks like a mild clean stock polo green machine.

Right now it is not being used. It sits around and the battery goes dead. Oh, it has new tires, but those will get flat spots at the rate I am going.

So, I realize I will take a bath on the car even at $11,000 or so as is. It would cost $20K to duplicate the car, and months of trial and error. That is why I wonder if I should not just slam the stock motor back in, and sell if for like $7K or so and still take a beating on the fresh suspension, etc.

So...that is it in a nutshell.

I would almost (ALMOST) mortgage my soul for that engine...

I told you what your problem was - you first offered it for sale just AFTER I bought my Vette :).

I wish you luck, and wish I had the cash. I'd keep the car if I'd put that much time and money into it, but I fully understand having a vehicle that's driven so seldom that you flat-spot the tires.

My mind is made up.

I am shocked and stunned that to this point nobody has actually ponied up the dough to take this car off my hands. Reason why I am shocked....because this car is 99% finished, thousands of new high dollar go fast parts and it looks great. I read threads on all the Corvette forums of people looking for more power, needing new suspension, clutch...etc.....and spending thousands patching other worn out L98 motors...yet this one is ready to and is rocking hard! If you have a C4 and are looking for more power, and reliable handling...speak now, buy my car as is, then sell yours off so that you don't have to spend the next year and all your spare money trying to accomplish what this car already has!

So...if nobody wants to take advantage of my desire to sell it with the freaky go fast goodies.....I am offiically gutting the car out, and slapping the stock mill back in. I will put new seals on the stock motor, and a new clutch disc for the dual mass, and it goes back together. No doubt I will take photos to document the swap. I will do all of this in a high quality manner so that it is back to stock as much as possible, clean, and ready to ride.

The only down side will be the 3.75 rear gears, but the new owner will get the 3.33 gears in a box with the car. Plus, I just spent thousands on the COMPLETE new suspension...so that will be a big benefit to the new owner, and maybe help sell it.

I will lay out my schedule and plans and hope to have it ready for the chopping block in two weeks.

Try to agressively advertise the car "as-is" for the next 30 days.
If you dont get any takers, then start your engine swap project.

Time is money... so they say.

And if you have enough time to swap engines, I will fly you out to CA to fix my VETTE and I will sell your car for you.

Just a thought.

Parts

How much for the 3.33 gears? Or, for that matter, to swap them and sell the 3.75s?

jmccloud, I am not ready to part anything out at this time, but thanks for asking.

Okay...I placed the ad in the local autotrader yesterday, but it won't run until next week. It is in there with the hot motor for sale or trade for a full size chevy truck.

I am also going to put our 3500 dually up for sale. As much as I love this truck, it is overkill for my daily needs. Finally, I will sell my little grand am for some chump change, then reconfigure things.

I will let the ad run for 30 days and see what happens.

Attaboy.

Dont jump at the first taker.
Get potential buyers names & phone numbers and use your best judgement.

If I were there... I would help you sell it

;)

Pending approval from my peers, I will run it in my sig pic (which I hardley ever use anyway).

You may want to use a more profound Font (Bold, Underline, Color, etc) for the for sale portion so it stands out in your threads... then post or answer as many threads as you can... cheap advertising...

Have you placed it in the CAC classifieds?

Give eBay a try... it has worked well for me.

The font & bold ideas are good.

But Iwould stray away from EBAY until the last resort.
I have had 6 car auctions sold to dead-beats.

Waste of time and money (ie ebay fees)

Great ideas guys.

Yes, it has been on the CAC classifieds before, and will go back again. I have to run to work now, so won't get to play with it until I get home tonight.

I don't want to mess with ebay for fear of the same....people that can't actually come up with the money.

Man that is sweet

Where were you last November? If I would have seen that one I would have surely gotten it. With all the little things that need doing to my 90 I would have been much better off.

Are you in need of the cash or can you wait a while? The reason I ask is I am about to be deployed for a few months. If you could wait I would gladly take her off your hands.

By the way what part of FL are you in?

This is mine but she needs a lot of little things .... could use a new motor too. But for your price you have already done many of the Mods I have been checking into.

69MyWay

Seriously consider this option.
Maybe you can work out a trade.

But if Hrtbeat1 is serious, all I have to say is NON-refundable deposit.

Good luck to the both of you.

Sounds like an idea.....

Let's see how my ad runs over the next month or so, and keep in touch. I am in Northeast Florida.

Dont sell it

Well do but sell it to me...

Got some questions. What is the interior color? Sport seats? Are you willing to give up the original motor also? How far east in FL? East of I-75? It would only take me about 6-7 hrs to get to that point.

I found out today I will be leaving in May for longer than expected but I will be back late Summer / early Fall. If you still have it when I return I have cash money. Or I could possibly give you a good deposit to hold it.

Think about it. Im serious here.

Here is something interesting for giggles and grins.

12 hour trial website

I am seeking a new homepage since my other host sold out. I am trying to learn the programming and threw this together.

It has pics of the 90 vette

Hrtbeat- I am just off I-95 about 1.5 hours from I-75.

I would really prefer you see this car, drive it, thrash it out a bit and make sure it is what you want, then we could haggle out the details.

Right now I plan on keeping the stock motor...however, it is negotiable.
