My C 4 with 87,500 miles is now using @ 1 quart of oil every 2,000 miles.

There is no significant leak that I can see anywhere. I do however see oil at the PCV on the passenger side. Sometimes this oil leaks down to the exhaust manifold and smokes till its burned off. This happens only occasionally.

Is this consumption excessive for the L 98 engine?

Any ideas or comments would be appreiciated....Thanks

Yes, that is quite excessive.

Try changing the pcv to see what happens. Also, check the valve covers, you could have a little leaking there as well.

How is the oil pressure and temperature?

Look at the front and back of the intake manifold. See if oil is seeping out. The entire back of my 92 engine was covered in oil that leaked from the back of the intake. The RTV sealant had failed.

The oil pressure is high and the temp low ( external oil cooler on this engine)

One side has a metal PCV the side that sometimes leaks is just a black plastic fitting
