Hi Group,
We own a 1992 coupe and we just opened the hatch/trunk to store some groceries and head back home.Got home and just pushed the button to open hatch and heard it release the lock but I still cannot open hatch or trunk. It attempted to release the lock because it opened about 1/4 inch around the hatch however its still somewhat ceased up around the lock area.I push the button after the initial
release and it clicks to release the lock but still won`t open.
Any suggestions
thanks
Richard

When you get the hatch up, look at that portion that is mounted on the rear window. It is coated with a rubber like material and when it gets roughed up, it will hang in the bottom part of the latch. Take a sharp razor and trim off the jagged part until the latch opens easily. Good luck.

There's a manual release.

Crawl in the hatch area. Put your hand behind the carpet in the area where
the latch is. There is a short piece of wire you pull and the latch mechanism
will release and the hatch should open.

If your hatch struts are worn out, it could possibly cause your problem.

Also the solenoid on the hatch mechanism does go bad.

You can also have someone keep pressing the hatch release and manually
lift the hatch glass.
