For those following my saga,
I finally broke 500 miles last night, so I made a special trip after dinner to wring the engine out and see what it would do.
All I can say is--I can't find where the hp peak is--it just keeps pulling, until I'm well over the 6000 rpm tach. I think I hit the rev limiter once, supposed to be set at 6300 rpm to save the bottom end of the engine in case of autocross.
With the heat and humidity here, it's hard to tell if there is really more pull--but I am not good at that seat-of-the pants stuff anyway. For sure, it's a machine up high.
Off the line seems ok, still spin the GSC tires.
Sound: especially down low, there is more high frequency, whiny content to the engine's sound. Up high it is a similar roar.
Idle: good, but it really doesn't tolerate low speed travel in 1st and 6th anymore. In 1st, better keep it above 9mph and foot on the gas, no crawl at 6-7 mph capability. In 6th, forget it until 60 mph with your foot on it. So I have to use 5th from 35-60 mph.
