1994 Black Rose Coupe
Hello all,
This is my first post as a new owner of a great 1994 Black Rose Coupe. Finally fullfilled my dream of owning a Vette ! !

Trouble I have is the parking brake. I failed my state inspection because it wasn't holding well enough. It holds in gear at idle but needs to be able to hold her back upto 1300 rpm.

I took it to a Chevy dealer to have it looked at. The previous owner had a 4 brakes done at this dealer in April so they are new. After having my new baby all day they called to tell me there wasn't anything wrong ?? They say the GM spec is to hold on a 7 degree incline and they said it did this fine with room to spare.

I called another dealer to see what they said. They said it should be able to hold to 1300 rpm. So now I am not sure what is correct?

I did talk the inspection station into a sticker after showing him the dealer's bill but it still isn't right.

The handle can be pulled all the way up and it holds at idle. I looked underneath and see where the cable had moved on both wheels. I pulled the wheels off and it looks like the cable pulls on an arm which pushes a pin against the back of the brake pad. I see no obvious adjustments? I bought the Haynes manual (nearly worthless). I have been reading this board and hear others have brake issues as well but nothing that relates to my issue.

There must be a way to adjust this thing? It all apears to be working but just not quite enough. Is there an adjustment at the handle end? I haven't had the ambition to pull the seat out to see yet !

Any help will be greatly appreciated ! !

Hope to get some pics this weekend and can post them. I will be here a lot I think getting advice and tips.

Thanks guys & gals !

Factory manual states "Cycle the lever 3 times". Thats supposed to adjust the parking brake. Apparently there is no manual adjustment after initial installation. Thats the only info I can find.

I suggest when you cycle the parking brake lever you pull it firmly to the "on" position.
