Low drag - High speed

My Sweetie's '95 coupe has a hum in the auto trans in every gear except park and neutral. I serviced the trans with new filter, gasket and cherry juice and there was no residue of any kind in the pan ... no metal shavings, clutch surface or abrasives at all.
The trans still hums and she said it's been like that for a couple years, although the car is seldom driven more than 20-30 days a year.
So ... is there some trick or something I missed, or should I buy her a tranny rebuild for Christmas? Any ideas?
