My first year of owning a 99 C-5 Convertible
When I bought the car (used @ 29,000) miles the owner had it serviced (Oil Changed, fluids topped off and put new brakes on it). I noticed a drop or two of oil on the cement in the garage under the Diff. Cleaned it up (but kept an eye on it, a drip or two after each outting); after a couple weeks of driving it seemed to stop leaking.
First big problem was the Passenger side carpet soaked from a clogged A/C drain.
Next problem was Low coolant message two days after having been serviced for its first oil change (wife see's this I have not).
Fixes...
Well the A/C issue I (ok the wife) had the dealer fix, cost was $60, and they said it was in fact clogged and they were able to remove the debris...That was reasonable in my opinion...hope the problem does not return any time soon (next A/C Season).
Diff leak the dealer confirmed and said it needs a side cover gasket replaced...estimate $425. My thoughts on this is it seems to leak just after being serviced...would I be off base to think topping off the fluids there is just a tad much, as it leaks it gets to its working level and thus stops leaking (talking just a couple of drops per outting for a couple weeks). I Found some other post on this board concerning diff leaks also.
The coolant alarm seems to be related to my wife parking on an incline, I have not looked at it yet, but I am assuming the sensor, may be out of the coolant when on a incline? This seem realistic?
Still happy with the car
Cheers
