This will bring back some good ol memories. This is a friend of mine Dad in a SWEET 58. This photo was shot in 69. The Vette would turn low 12's just as it sits:upthumbs :cool :bu

Enjoy :w

Thanks Bud.

The original owner of my 57 did some drag racing with the car from 57 thru about 63. A few years ago I ran into the guy who drove the car and asked him "how fast didja go"? He told me in 62 or 63 the car had a 327 with about 450 hp, a 4-speed, 4:56 rear and 7 inch slicks the car hit high 10s! :eek :Steer :bu

Here it is in the early days - best guess is 1958-9:

BTW, Sunshine Drag Strip in Clearwater, FL is still in operation!

Cool picture Bill. I like the exhaust system. Looks to be fenderwell headers.

The old "Modified Production" class was tough! Thanks for the memories. :upthumbs

I got some more pics:

Muttley, Sunshine is between I-275 and US 19 on Roosevelt (if my memory serves). They also have a roundy-round track there.

Man, that first one is an excellent shot! Looking at all the spectator vehicles sure brings back some fond memories. It was a prime period of my life! :D

_ken :v (I love CARS!) :J

Got two more "baby pictures" of my 57 in action.

I was told this one was taken at Kissimmee airport (near Orlando) on May 4, 1958. What I find very interesting is that the original owner bought a black 57 FI new and had so many problems with hard starting he returned it and ordered this white one. Notice the other Corvette - notice the color? I wonder just how many of those were around in May of 58...

This one was taken at the same strip but about a year later - notice the 59 bubbletop in the other lane.

What great pictures.

I like the old pictures of our cars whether action shots or just sitting in the drive. I'll have to dig out some of mine from way back.

Re:

Here's a pic of my '59 trunk that never ceases to crack me up- One of America's greatest sportscars, built by someone with 3rd grade spelling skills [see anything wrong with the color info etched in the trunk?]...
