On a 1999 coup:

What can cause some of the button lights on the A/C CD/Radio panels to light while others do not.

Example: Temperature control knob driver side does not light while the passenger side does light. Entire row of buttons except the "Mode" button are out, etc.

I've made sure the dimmer is turned up.

If fuses are or can be the problem specifically which ones.

What lights these button-lamps/fiber optics ?

Hi there,
Button lights are usually backlit, while the indicators are LEDs.
The entire lighting system differs from the DIC to the radio or the climate control.
I would have your dealership look at them.
It sounds to me like you may have a cracked circuit somewhere.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that since it was limited to the A/C panel and the CD/Radio panel that it might be a simple matter of a fuse. From what you're telling me though, the buttons are hardwired to an LED and their is possibly an open or short in one or more of the wiring.

I'm fairly handy with an ohm/volt meter if I can get access to the wiring bundle. Is this something that is possible to troubleshoot on my own? Or do you still recommend the dreaded, and in my experience, extraordinarily expensive trip to a dealer. Fortunanely I do have one I trust so if it is still the only choice I'm OK with it.

Thanks for this and past replies, you've always been helpful.
