A/C compressor pop off valve

On an 88 vette the A/C compressor has a pop off valve on the top of the compressor on the high side has anyone ever have this valve leak ? The valve appears to be replaceable since it screws out.

they can leak although unusual in my book it can be checked with a sniffer to be sure . it may be something else altogether only my 2 cents Steve

I agree with bradfordsvettes, it would be very unusual for the valve to leak. I don't know how you would replace it without evacuating and recharging the a/c system. You can put soap bubbles over it and watch for leaks, it's low-tech but I see seasoned a/c techs doing this.

The valve is a pop off valve once it pops off it has to be replaced and the system has to be evacuated and recharged after the replacement valve has been installed. Also thanks Ken for your help.
