hey guys i need an a/c compressor for a 1990 L98 corvette 5.7 what years will fit any help appr.

BTT
I have an 89 with a fried compressor too, and I'd like to follow this thread for an answer.
The last I heard is that we're screwed, GM used a Nippodenso compressor in our years and nothing else will fit. A new part from GM is $600 plus, and rebuilds aren't guaranteed, neither is the new part unless we replace every component in the AC system - $1800 plus tag !
That's why I haven't fixed the compressor for three years.
LOL to us all.

I bought my last compressor on Ebay. I believe 89-96 are all the same, but don't quote me on that. It is a Nippondenso 10PA20c. Variations of this compressor were popular in the eighties and nineties for high end cars, you'll find them on Lexuses, Porsches, etc. The weak point is the shaft seal, it will fail before anything else. It is fairly easy to replace, but consider taking your compressor to an a/c shop & have them rebuild it, they will replace all the gaskets as well as the shaft seal, and they will check the internal parts.

Part of the reason for this is that a compressor failure may involve metallic particles being spread throughout the system which could damage a 'new' compressor. I have never heard of any flushing process, as an alternative to renewal of all components.

I have found very few shops who could produce longterm fixes to A/C, despite its not being rocket science.
