I converted my '77 to r134a freon last Sept. While the system was down I replaced all the pressure switches, the (temp sensing) clutch cycle switch, etc.
Recently the clutch has been cycling too frequently every 10 seconds it cuts out for 4-5 seconds. The cycle switch seems to have bit the dust! Pressures are good.
Has anyone used a different switch, one that works better with the r134a?
The switch is mounted by the orifice tube and attaches to the tube with clamps. It has 2 wire hookup to the a/c compressor wiring. Any thoughts / suggestions as to a better switch, maybe adjustable?

The thermostatic switch on the orifice tube turns off the compressor when the temperature in the tube gets too cold, indicating that the dryer is full of liquid coolant and keeps the compressor from pumping fluid instead of gas. If the black clay on the tube is loose, it will give a false cold signal that turns off the compressor, or if the freon charge is low it will cycle the compressor. You can jumper the sensor with a paper clip to verify that the sensor is bad or if the pressure sensor is cycling the compressor.
From your post, it sounds like you know what you're doing. A stock replacement switch should be a suitable repair component regardless if you are using r12 or r143.
