Seems I read somewhere that you can conect a jumper wire to the o2 sensor and using a volt meter determine what the A/F mixture is. Is anyone familiar with this and is ther a way to know if the o2 is getting up to the proper temp. My o2 is now in the collector of my header and just wondering if it is reaching 600 deg. Is that the correct temp?

I don't have the software to check this out. Just shade tree tuning until I get dyno'd.

You might be able to tell what the O2 content in your exhaust is but you wouldn't get an AFR reading
There are intruments for that purpose.
A very old technolagy we used to use was a wheatstone bridge setup.
This gave us a good AFR reading and was quite sensitive. We used it for setting up carburetion.
Anything you use would need to be ahead of the cats. such as in the O2 fitting.
The temp could be checked with a thermocouple.

The 'narrowband' sensor in you exhaust is not capable of measuring the actual AFR. I can only tell you if it is richer or leaner than 14.7:1.
At 14.7:1 you will see ~450mV. If richer, it will be up to .9v, if leaner, down to .1v

That may be what I was refering to with a jumper wire connected to the o2 sensor and getting a voltage reading.
