A few new Corvette Stingray Concept pictures for y'all...

Yes, it was in the Transformers movie. Sideswipe. I own two. One in the package, one in robot mode clinging to the side of my bookshelf.

And, after careful study of it in Corvette mode...I agree about the front grill and taillights. I'm afraid that the new owners at GM won't allow much redesign, so if it goes to market, that's what it will be.

I do NOT like the doors.

And I would like the 4 tail lights, and change the headlights a little.

I mean, you can put me on a dark street, at night, and have a Corvette approach, and I can spot not only that it is a Corvette, but also the generation, and in some cases the year, just by the headlights. Or, have me approach one from the rear, and I can ID it at an insane distance. (And have *ahem* exceeded the speed limit by a bit to prove to friends that yes, that is a Corvette a mile and a half ahead of us.)

And I do absolutely love the new Stingray emblem on the back.

Hate the headlights and grill. Need hidden headlights like original stingray. Love all else except the lambo doors. Fix the grill headlights and lambo doors and we are in business. Love the fender flares on front like the c3. Time to get back to that look.

I've seen several replies about Corvettes having round tail lights; what gives? They haven't always been round, there was a time they were more oblong than round.

There was a time when they didn't have side windows, but now they do.

There was a time when they didn't have seatbelts, but now they do.

There was a time when they didn't have plastic parts, but know they do.

I understand the importance of heritage but welcome change for the right reasons. More than the shape of the tail lights define Corvette. When technology and style fuse together in the right way it won't matter if the tail lights are round, square, oblong or triangle it WILL be a Corvette.

I agree there are a few pieces that look too similar to other cars but I know when the time comes the C7 will stand alone. Otherwise it will be left alone........ on the showroom.:)

When did they not have plastic parts? 1953 did!
When did they not have seat belts? always an option! It was cool to install seat belts in a car, it meant it needed them.
When did they not have side windows? The 1953 came with side curtains and a better roof than most British counterparts.

All corvette have had round taillights until 1991 when they switched to a squared yet rounded corner light and due to customer disapproval changed again in the C5. They haven't always had four I'll give you that, but the trend started in 1961 and has remained with great admiration even from designers like Ferrari. It does set off the rear of the car as a Corvette since the front has never had a trademark grill like other well know marks that always keep that part of the design. ie Rolls, BMW, Maserati, etc.

The distinguishing front appearance of a Corvette has been the hidden lights since 1963. Yes they don't always work, but if that is a problem then sell before your warranty expires. I'll give you one major change that has been wonderful is the placement of the battery, easy access now, but that has nothing to do with styling.

The C6 is an impressive performance vehicle for the money, but the next model should bring back the hidden lights and continue with the round taillights at a minimum. They could also hide the wipers out of view, return the fuel filler to the center rear and put the name back up in the center, not in the bottom corner like it is a footnote.

love this car!100% I don't care what anybody thinks! i want it now!nice new pics thanks shooter!:thumb

Looks like they started w/ a clean sheet of paper. Lots of hints from mid-years and Sharks. I agree re: round tails.

Would like to see the stylized crossed flags ditched and go back to the early ones.

All in all, great concept.

Here's another Great L@@King Older Concept...

All in all, great concept.

It's a beautiful car, but not quite a Corvette. A few features missing that absolutely would be on the C7 include the removable roof and hatchback for the coupes. Also, the front clip is one big tilt unit - prohibitively costly and difficult to accommodate in manufacturing/assembly. The doors would also likely open in a more conventional manner. However, with all of the positive response to the Concept, I could easily see it heavily influencing the C7 design - they've already admitted there will be a return to the split window! I also foresee the use of LED taillights and even headlights. They weight less than conventional units, are brighter and offer immensely greater design possibilities. Oh, and I'm all for fixed headlights!;)

If that ugly-assed car was being considered for the next Corvette, than gawd GM killed the C7!

There goes my 401K again...
