A Few Pics of my new 2008

Very nice ride! I hope to have a JSB coupe in my garage sometime next year. I'm going with the auto as well.

Thanks Eric. There are some interesting things about this car. I have posted some of this already but I think it is worth summarizing:

I am coming from the C5 forum. I just traded my '02 vert (loaded) for a 2008 1LT JSB coupe. I loved my C5 (and my 1988 C4 coupe before it) so I am not about to bash C5s but there are some very definite improvements here:

1) The A6 is great and the paddle shifter is really cool.
2) JSB is truely something to behold. I have always loved black but after really closely comparing JSB to black, AO, Mag Red, Victory Red and V Yellow (side by side) I decided on the JSB. I did not buy the car to be noticed but if that is what you want JSB gets attention.
3) The seats are basic but very comfortable.
4) Keeping the fob in my pocket and just walking up, entering and pushing a button is nice. Just walking away and having the car automatically lock and arm is nice.
5) The power is truely awesome. My C5 was quick but this is in a different class.
6) My C5 handled well but during my driving this week I have had the opportunity to drive the same 360 degree ramps, sharply curved ramps with very noticeable joints and some fun twisties. There is no doubt that the C6 is a tighter, better handling car. This is not a 'feeling' but an absolute. It is obvious. Interestingly the poorly made seem on the banked and 90 degree (90 degree curve) always made my C5s rear end skip over to the right very noticeably. The C6 barely notices the joint.
7) I did not think I would but I like the exposed headlights and I love the light produced. It is hands down better than the standard lights on the C5.
8) I do not miss my HUD. I thought I would miss it but I do not. The HUD has a definite cool factor but now that I don't have one I kind of think of it as a distraction. That may change over time.

BTW: There is a panel in the dash for the HUD. Can this be added (as in the C5) later in the C6 if I do change my mind?

9) I do not miss the memory package and the telescopic wheel except when I exit the car. I would probably add that package next time.

10) My wife likes this car. She has never been a Corvette fan since she does not like to ride low but she really likes this car. The color initially got her attention.:D

The dealer is installing the NPP exhaust this week. I have ordered Ed's Mild 2 Wild along with his splash guards and exhuast tip polish. I will post a review of those over the next couple of weeks after I get them installed.:thumb

Thanks again to everyone.

Our Little Rock news usually says it is 97 or 98 but my car says it is 102-103 (as do the outdoor thermometers). I am ready for fall already.

Are you coming to Eureka Springs in October?:thumb
I wish I could go to Eureka Springs but I officiate high school football and it's impossible to get away that time of year. This is my 28th year so just 2 more after this one.

That is cool. My daughter is getting married in Miami and I don't know if I will be back in time. If I get there I'll send pics.:thumb

Dave Hill said there is an increase of light by 35% over the C5. Also the light pattern has definite edges which can make for a more precise aiming and brighter light as less "bleeds over" to oncoming traffic. So my question to you~ Do you REALLY notice a difference between the C5 lights and the C6 lights?

The reason GM went with "exposed headlights" was 2 fold.
1. HID lights are now in a smaller, brighter package. and
2. Some European Counties have outlawed the use of "hidden headlights" and GM wants this market.

Bonnell, very nice!! Thanks for sharing the pix and your observations of the C5 to C6 differences.

The JSB is another beautiful color choice for Corvettes and I look forward to seeing one up close and personal. I like your avatar too, by the way... excellent choice from all your candidates. :thumb

One point I must mention, however, there is a fix for the rear window - top separation issue. 6Shooter posted photos and details in a thread sometime back. :thumb I only wish it had been posted sooner since I had already replaced my top by then. ;squint:

Enjoy the new C6!

No question. The difference in light is turely amazing. There is a very defined light pattern also. When I am leaving in the mornings my lights shine directly on my neighbor's house and the light has almost a straight line cutoff at the top of the light. It is almost as if there were a straight board across the top of the lights.

Keep in mind though that I think there is a cool factor in hidden headlights. The C5 rear end is also sportier to me than the C6. The C6 looks higher than the (it is a little higher but not higher off of the ground).

Thanks Jane Ann.

I saw the repair thread too and I was ready to try it out. In fact in one of the threads Rhino glue was used and I ordered it (it is on my kitchen counter now :) ) but since the opportunity for the new car popped up I did not have to try it out.

I will have the NPP exhaust added this week. I will post about that when I get it since there seems to be a general concensus that NPP cannot be added later. I will also be adding the mild 2 wild kit (I have it ready to install) and I will write a review to post here when I get it in.

BTW: I am from the Alabama gulf coast.

Great photos. Bonnell. You've got a beauty!

Thanks. This is my first new Corvette and I am excited to have the opportunity to start from new.

Next week I am having the 3M clear bra added. I am fortunate to have a local body shop that I trust (they have done work for me in the past) that is certified by 3M and offers a lifetime warranty on the product.

As with the other items I've mentioned I will add a review of this too.:D Maybe it will be useful to someone else.

Thanks for a great forum.:thumb
