Im asking a two-fer question and Im very curious about the answer because Ive gotten different opinions for a while and frankly Im not sure what the right move is. A co-worker of mine couldnt stand it anymore looking on the outside in at this Corvette community were in so he just bought a 2001 RedZO6, 65,000 mi beauty for $27,000. Very clean and a great runner. But when the engine is cold, there is a slight piston slap which I told him was common on some 2001 models. I know there was a bulletin on this years ago but its since expired. He doesnt know any Corvetters (except me) and he really doesnt want to spend any money in the motor. Is there a way to quiet the piston slap without cracking the motor open? Also I had a chance to listen to the engine after its warmed up and standing outside the car the sound is faint but still noticeable. (The car is bone-stock from airbox to exhaust). I would like to have a list of answers for him by Monday. I just got back from a day trip to the Funfest in Effingham. It was a wet drive from start to finish but I had a ball. Im out !!!!
