Could someone send me a picture of what their mechanical choke looks like on a 68-72 BB. I just ordered one and it appears that it operates reversely to what it should. So I am not sure if its the wrong coil, even though it said 69 427 on the package, or if there is something wrong/odd with my carb.

I have a big block 69 427/430hp ......the coke depends on the application...

Make sure that the coke is for your application......the 427ci mtr came as 390hp,400hp, 435hp and 430hp and 430hp all alum.....the 400hp and the 435hp cars came with tri-power carbs

The catalog said all 427s with the Qjet, which is what I have, a 427-390

the carb. numbers for this year car is 7029215 for manual and 7029204 for automatic

the choke spring should be wrapped in a clockwise fashion for the corvette and counterclockwise for all other applications......
It sound to me like they gave you the wrong choke

I hope this helps
Mike

Well, the engine was replaced with a 427 block at some point, I think a CE stamped block. So I am not sure if the Qjet is correct, so I'm not sure the number will be right.

As far as i can tell, mine is definitely wound ccw, so it pulls the choke rod down as it gets warmer.
