I occasionally have low rubbing or squeaking sound comming from the rear of the car particuarly when I go over a bump. I sounds like it is comming from one or both of the rear shocks, but the car does not drive like it has worn out shocks and the car only has 64k on it. Could the sound be comming from the joints on the leaf spring? Could those joints just need to be lubed? :confused

Noises from rear of Corvette

My '95 made a few rearward groans and squeaks when I bought it with 60,000 miles. As the mileage approached 90,000, the groans got louder and more frequent especially when one back tire hit a bump. Every time I jacked the car up to look for the source, the noise abated for a few days. The FSM even lists several sources for rearward noises but none of them was it.
Eventually I jacked up the car onto a jack stand and removed the wheel, put the jack under the rear hub and lifted it slowly. The sway bar end clip moved about 1/4" from slack.
New sway bar bushings (two fat ones on the bar and two little ones on each end of the sway bar) got rid of all the noise. And the handling is noticeably improved.
They're something of a pain to get in. I used a long bolt, a few sockets and fender washers to make sort of a puller/inserter. Something like a sleeve puller for old sleeve engines. Lots of lube too (it came in the kit). The kit was very reasonable (less than $20).
Good luck
