i finally got a digital camera , so im gonna try and show ya my c.d. player i installed.the only problem is the angle of the radio face and the digitals....its hard to see them in daylight, but the clock is working on the dash....

Hey Chas... same problem here. Updated the 8-track player with a new digital CD/MP3. My 78 is like driving in a fish-bowl, glass tops and windows everywhere. When the sun comes in through the back or side window, it's almost impossible to see the digital display. Even worse, the unit has a remote control... infrared versus the sun: the sun wins every time.

and i have to hold my remote at a impossible angle to get it to work...its in the glove box!

Mounted my remote on the parking brake with velcro. Points right at the unit.

Hi: Where'd the get the mounting plate for your CD player?

You can get the mounting plate thru vettespecialties.com

They call it their din radio conversion. I bought one from them and it is well made of metal, and the finish matches the gauge bezel very well.

Thanx "Thumper" for the info. I figured they'd make a mounting plate like that someday. When I first installed a cassette deck in my '72, there was no such mounting plate available. Guys would just cut their center console & make the radio fit. I didn't want to do that, so I made my own mounting plate. Looks pretty much like the one you have. I'll probably take my plate & open it up more to accomidate the CD player, but it's nice to know that I can get another one easily if I should screw mine up. Thanx again!

Peace: Dave

i made the plate....

i have access to a mill and aluminum so i made it at lunch one day....
