thanks,

I didn't even know the LT-4 hotcam would work in an L98. I need to do something to my motor but I haven't decided exactly what yet.

When you get rid of those C5 wheels let us know!

:w

I know this will sound strange but the beat of the exhaust at an idle reminds me of the sound of the drums and the rythum of the music at a hula dance. (Use to live in Makiki above the HIC on Dominis Street,on Oahu.) Sounds great brudda!!

:cry :cry I want one........

how about a ballpark figure for the complete install. I'm getting my core charge back from the chrome wheels and it'd be nice to tweak the ole L98 a tad.

Ahhhh. I love the sound of a sweet exhaust!!! My compliments to the chef!

Yes LT-4's LT-1's and L-98's the cam will work on, U'll have to push in the dole pin some for the L-98 with is not a problem, just push it in with a press, I am actully selling my rims, trying to get somebody locally though to by them because I needed the full amount for some home payments I'm gonna need to make some time very soon, locally only because of not having to charge extra for shipping from Hawaii to other mainland states.

Hmm, good question, if your cheap like myself :L then it wont cost U very much, just find somebody with a used LT-4 hotcam ($75.00), and a set of used 1.6 roller rockers (I traded for them) which the specs of the cam (525 lift) are made with the 1.6's on, then find yourself a set of......well, I recomend brand new valve springs ($50.00), and thats it, it'll be much cheaper for U to go this route then to purchase everything new, thats what I did and it's seems to be working out just fine for me, I am in the middle of dailing it in right now (chip burning and scanning) so soon after a few more scans hopefully I'll be running as close to as perfect I can be................probebly ever this car has been running.

Here's the site where these things can be purchased brand new if U so decide to.

24502586 Hydraulic Roller (LT4 Hot Cam) This hydraulic roller cam is for service only for all V8 engines with roller camshafts. The duration at lash point in degrees (intake/exhaust) is 279/287; duration at .050" tappet lift (intake/exhaust) is 218/228; and maximum lift with 1.6 rocker ratio (intake/exhaust) is 525/525. Valve lash is zero/zero and lobe centerline is 112 degrees.

Technical Notes: The LT4 camshaft P/N 24502586 was designed to be used in a number of different engines. Therefore, the following change may need to be made to allow for correct assembly of the engine: For LT1 and L98 engines 1995 and before, the dowel pin in the end of the camshaft must be pushed in so extension from end of cam is .30+/-.01", the same as the production part. For 1996 LT1 and LT4 engines, the dowel pin is in the correct position, extending .620" from the end of the camshaft. This camshaft has a fuel pump lobe.

Daaaannnnggg.... That doesn't sound like an L-98 any more. Full throttle sounds like something muscular from the 60's, and at idle it sounds like a diesel locomotive tackling a grade! Love the exhaust note...

Any idea on how many ponies were added with that setup?:lou

I really wish I could tell U, but I have no idea, I really just wanted to have a choppy idle along with a little more power increase, thats why the cam install, I dont race very much if any more at all, mostly just cruise which is why I tell my buddies that my vette is just a cruiser and not a racer, though it sounds kinda like one now, with the stuff I did to it including the porting and exaust, I'd say I've added maybe, oh heck, around 40 hp? 50 hp? I could be way off or not giving it enough number's, I dont know, but as I said, I'm not really all that concerned any more cause I'd just drive my self "lolo" (Hawaiian for crazy) if I tried to keep up with the beast's that are now on the roads.:L

Just for some info, I was cruiseing at 24 mph, when I down shiffted I was able to spin the tires up the street quite a ways as U can hear from engine revving on the video and this is with an automatic with 3.07 gear ratio.

That exhaust is intimidating enough to deter challengers!:D

oh U would be suprised my friend, I have all kinds of peaple acting stupid to me and the majority of the time, the ones who are acting dumb R the ones who drives normal, regular car's like SUV's and small stock 4 door imports and stuff like that, I dont really understand why that is the case, and out of those types it's mostly Females who are driving them acting stupid to me on the road, go figure.
