Just wanted to run this by the C-5 experts or who ever would know. Appears the last few times I have driven my 2000 C-5 in the rain that the ABS/Traction Control warning/etc. came on the DIC. Would this be becasue the water is getting to the sensors on the wheels and causing this being they work in conjucnction?

Other than that the warning for either of these never comes on, :confused I have good breaks and etc. Dosen't seem to be a lasting problem. The last time they came on was just a week or so ago and there wasn't a lot of rain but the roads were wet for a while.

Thanks and any help or comments would be appreciatiated.

HI there,
Are there any codes?????
Allthebest, c4c5

Not sure, I know there is a way to check that on the DIC but not familular with how. Nothing keeps prompting me if that is what your asking. It only happens when it rains, so I don't know.

Bill, with the key in the "on" position, press and hold down the #4 "Options" button on the dash, while holding it down, press the #1 button 4 times. The DIC will then display the OBDII (On-Board Diagnostics II) codes. If there's a "C" after the code, that means it is current, if there's an "H" that means it is stored in the history. It'll cycle through all the various systems, then you can use the buttons to page through the stored codes. Once you can post the codes, C4C5 Specialist can help diagnose.

Also, here's a link to a brief description of all the codes: http://www.stengel.net/diccodes.htm

Good luck.

To check codes: Key on, engine off. Press reset to clear any warning messages. Press and hold options button. While holding options button down, press fuel button four times within 10 seconds. Codes should appear, if there are any. Some cars display the traction control light when it is in operation. I haven't checked my owners manual on this yet, but it could be normal.

Are your tires spinning or hydroplaning when the traction control warning comes on? I have only had mine out in the rain a couple of times, but I did see that DIC message a few times as I was sliding around a turn or two. Tooooo much fun not to.:) But the traction control shut me down fast! The first time it happened I thought I had run out of gas.:ugh

Bill, I used to have that problem on my 98. Then I found that the inner right hand fender panel was broken. It had holes and was cracked up. I bought a new one from local dealer. It only cost $ 18.00. (couldn't believe that any replacement part on a vette was $18.00) Any jacked up front of car removed rh front wheel, replaced panel. waaa laa. no more display of abs traction warning. There is a computer in that area behind that panel. something to check bye Jay

How about checking the OBDII codes on a C6?? Can someone tell me what the procedure is??

Bernie,
I'm unfamiliar with the process to pull codes on a C6. You may want to try a private message to C4C5 Specialist.

C6's need a scan tool.

Well, Shoot!
I recently saw a source (which I've since forgotten) that was selling an OBD scanner that would connect to a laptop. Price was about $170 I think? Anyone have any experience with these "low-end" scanners?? Worth the money?? Accurate??

Sorry - I meant to thank you guys for the quick response.

THANKS!

If you are just checking for codes, get the least expensive scanner that is compatable with the C6. It's a new car, make sure the software is available for it aftermarket. If you are going to diagnose problems or modify and tune your car, then you want the best one you can get.

Thanks and I will check that out, but I have not seen any like this broken; thought maybe the connectors on the ABS sensor may even be taking on some water or shomething like that.

Thanks for getting back to me.
