AC blower control module question.

My AC compressor on my 86 coupe, C68 electronic AC system, stopped working about a month ago. Using the shop manual, I’ve troubleshot the problem down to the blower control module. I got a price quote from Chevy $540. Does any one have any experience regarding this problem? Because of the price I’m a little gun shy buying the module just in case the manual or I'm incorrect. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You can buy 3 air compressors at Covette Central for that price. Are you sure you and your dealer are talking about the right thing here?? My '89 blower is controled by a simple relay switch and resistor pack. The listed price at CC for the 84-89 A/C Control Blower Switch is $10.75.
