Any advice on removing the AC or blower motor cover on a 73 SB? I think I have all the screws out but the bottom one on the right side of the housing cover and I don't know how to access it. any advice is very welcome!!

There are mounting screws that need to be removed from both the engine compartment and passenger compartment sides. Removing the side grill in the fender will give you access to the engine compartment side of the A/C box. Removing the passenger side dash takes care of the interior side.

thanks for the help

Looks like I need to remove the entire blower motor assembly...not so much fun!

May I ask what it is we are trying to accomplish? Replacing the fan motor, replacing the heater core, ? Inquiring minds and all that good stuff :D

I need to replace the heater core; right now I have it bypassed. I know there is one bolt which you need to access from the engine compartment and I am thinking it is behind the blower motor housing.

Some of this you may already know. To replace the heater core, you need to remove the passenger side dash panel which will give you access to the inside A/C/heater box. The fasteners are all on the perimeter of the box. I believe there is one stud at the top of the box that goes thru the firewall that the nut is located in the vicinity of the passenger side hood latch. I believe that there is also a bolt that goes thru the firewall at the bottom of the box that can be accessed from below or by removing the side grill of the car. Once you get all of the fasteners out, you have to lift up slightly on the box and then rotate the top toward you. This will allow the heater core tubes (where the hoses attach) to clear the firewall. It's then a matter of lift and turn to get the housing out. The housing almost needs to turn 90 degrees toward you to get it to clear the firewall to come out. Once the housing is out, you can replace the heater core and re-assemble the way you took it apart.

Alcohol and and fowl language may be a temporary help.

It doesn't look like the side grills are removable on my 73; starting to think a 71 or 72 would have been a better choice!

Well, that's an atomic size face palm. Sorry, but I had '72 on the brain, since I recently changed out my heater core. You did state '73. Sorry about that year mix-up. You should still be able to access the lower bolt from underneath the car.
