1982 collectors edition
can I please get some help,

I have a 1982 collectors edition.

Since I've been working on it I have a check mark when I hook up my laptop to the diagnostic plug,

using winaldl.
My AC does not work and I am not looking at it yet as I have many other things to do on the car.

But I would think that the check mark by the ac clutch on the ECM board indicates that the

computer thinks that the clutch is operated therefore it is adjusting the engine idling etc accordingly.

First of all the clutch is no operated, and I can make it operate.

I have tried opening the lead to the computer and I have grounded it, and I have put battery on it and

I can;t get it off.

I have all the manuals and wiring diagrams,I know what lead goes to the ECM,can anyone please take some time

and look at this and tell me something. I have exhausted all of my ideas.

Thanks, Jim

The A/C clutch should only be energized when the the A/C control panel on the console is set to cool. So if the A/C control panel is set to off, the A/C clutch should be de-energized. I would check the control panel to see if the problem might be there.

does it work when it is running??
does it blow cold air??
the computers on our vettes are primitive at best,
compared to the new vettes.
I believe they only control the fuel and distributor.

Another thing to look at is the pressure cycling switch- if the system has a low charge or the switch died, the computer is telling it to run (feeding power or giving it a ground) but has no way to tell if it is or not.

Thanks Guys,

The AC is off,it doesn't work.

When I test it the clutch it operates.

In this condition,it is NOT operated(but it is checked at the ECM).

Whether the computer is primative or not, I think it is a good computer and it does compensite

for higher idle etc when AC is running.

Again the AC clutch is checked on the ECM.

And again, does anyone know how to get it unchecked.

I tried to grd open put battery on the lead, does anyone know what should uncheckit?

I have the books, but you can;t always make me understand.

Please,I need the check mark off on the ECM.

Thanks Again, Jim
