I've got a stock L98 coupe. I always use AC Delco filters. Last time I went to Auto Zone to get one there was a sign that said the regular PF 25 filters were discontinued and to use PF 454. I changed the oil this weekend and noticed the PF 454 is more than an inch shorter than the old PF 25. What's going on? :mad Makes me wonder how this filter is going to do the job since there obviously has to be less filter media. Any recommendations on a different AC Delco that works or do I need to step up to something like a Mobil 1? :confused

I know that PF25 and PF35 work for us. I thought the 35 was the longer one.

However, I dont use either anymore, I went up to K&N HP2002 filter. Sometimes i use the M1-202 Mobil filter.

they make a shorter oil filter for my 91 and it pushes the oil up on the dip stick probely the same thing

The PF 35 has the same diameter but is a little longer than the PF 25. It has the same size threads and gasket but holds more oil - almost a quart. You can use the 35 anyplace you have the clearance for the extra length. I use them on both my '84 and my T-Bucket with a 350.
Always a good idea to fill with oil before spinning back on.
