Is it possible to bypass the ac system on a 96 LT-1? Different pulley? Shorter belt?

Thanks in advance.

Yes but why would you want to unless you are drag racing as OK is just about as bad as Texas. Modern A/C compressors only pull 2-3 hp. We run our ZR1 to 7500 rpm at Goliad twice a year and it has had no bad effects on the compressor (so far). I just don't see 2-3 hp worth the kit unless it's a dedicated race car.

Thanks BlackVette. Thats what we need.

Rex, The ac will go back on next summer. I just need the car to run now. I have 6 vehicles to keep running and christmas is here (9 grandkids)($$$$$). Don't have the extra grand to get it fixed just now.

OK, now I get it. Rockauto has For Season remaned w/clutch for $449.00 + $100.00 refundable core. The idler 92BV mentioned is much cheaper than I thought.
